TikTok for Business

Now surpassing 1 billion active users, TikTok is clearly the place to reach Gen Z and Millennials. If you are curious about the best ways to kick start your brand’s presence on TikTok but are not sure where to start, we have some easy and effective tips that will get you started. Warning: TikTok content is highly addictive and you may find yourself streaming for hours. Check out some of our very own case studies at the end for some examples of campaigns that have performed very well!

Participate in Challenges

If you are new to the Tiktok platform, one thing you will learn very quickly is that there is always a new challenge trending on TikTok. When a challenge catches on, many users will watch several of these videos back to back to see how different creators filmed the challenge, before filming their own. Participating in one of these challenges is a great way to spread brand awareness and link yourself to viral hashtags and content.

Tiktok is truly unique when you consider some of the challenges that have gone viral and most are very funny and entertaining; an example of one viral challenge is the cereal challenge, where creators challenged each other to eat cereal out of someone else’s mouth. Hundreds of users set out to accept the challenge and create their own videos. If you are a cereal brand, this is your cue to jump on the bandwagon! You never know what type of content will become a challenge so it’s a good idea to appoint someone on your team to monitor these challenges and see where your brand best fits into them.

Create your own challenge

Once you have tried a challenge or two, you can start brainstorming challenges that will be a relevant way to promote your brand, while also being fun and easy for others to duplicate. Many shoe brands have witnessed the frequent dance content and challenges taking place on TikTok, and seized the opportunity to start promoting their shoes in these videos.

You can start a challenge that is fun and entertaining and work with a small group of creators to start the trend and watch to see if it catches on or not. If the challenge doesn’t take off, give it a couple of weeks. Some challenges can take off even after a few weeks of going live. Practicing challenges will allow you to refine your content to make it easier to follow and more entertaining over time.

Partner with Relevant Creators

It’s important to find the right talent when working on TikTok to ensure your efforts are as effective as possible. When looking for different creators, find influencers that have already engaged with or shown interest in your brand prior to the campaign.

Look for creators who are actively using or endorsing your product prior to the partnership. This is going to allow them to create genuine and authentic content and it will seamlessly fit in with their channel. This type of content has a much better chance of impacting their audience and provoking the desired response. Look for partnerships that make sense and are the best fit possible. It’s better to work with a small pool of influencers who are a really good fit for your brand.

Think Outside of the Box and Have Fun

TikTok is unlike every other social media platform out there in that the content is meant to be raw, fun, and entertaining. It’s much different from a lot of the more polished, curated content that you see on other platforms. Make sure that everything you create maintains the mission of having fun, not taking yourself too seriously, and making others laugh and smile. This type of positive, creative space is truly a great place to launch your next brand campaign.
